Wow. Long time no update.

Hellohai bloggers, just so you know, I ain't dead.

It's been quite a long time since I last updated this site, but here's  the reason.
Remember when I posted about the crazyness of Limburg (BE) ?
Well I've just gotten home from an almost-two-week trip there,
and guess what? I've seen flying scorpions, underwater scorpions,
red-and-black butterflies and I-don't-know-what-it-looks-like-animals.
I've been standing in a river in a gigantic forest, I helped create a creepy monkey-robot,
I have gotten my first lesson in horseback riding through the woods
(amazing) and I finally got a first lesson in driving a car.

The people in that strange part of Belgium are as unique as the land itself
and I love it.

The sixth and seventh of july I found myself in The Netherlands for a medieval festival,
as part of the crew (more like a mule carrying stuff, but I don't mind)
of a good friend of mine, who's taking the fantasy-music scene by storm.
Without me realising it, in the evening I found my self in the cellar of
the big castle of Doornenburg, serving mead to the guests who dined in their
fancy clothes. It was a magical weekend.

I'm sad and relieved to be home, for I needed to re-charge my batteries.
But you can bet your pretty buttocks I'm going back soon!

MADNESS.

Oh god. I'm behind on things. So much.
So much has happened I just.. can't.. possibly explain everything.

For starters, I know what I want to do. I want to go to school for that reason,
but I am not allowed, my coach (who helps me find work) doesn't want me to do it.
Because for one reason being that she doesn't believe that I can find a job when I
learned it. But you know, I can't find a job right now either, so what's the fuss?
Also, I have to move closer to the school, and moving out of my parent's house costs money,
that I don't have. That means finding a job during the weekends but I can't find a job like
that that I'm allowed to do. I can't do so-called 'student-jobs' for I am not a 'student'
when I go to school for that course. Yes, I know, it's strange and it's bullocks.

I guess doing what I want to do is just something that will always be just out of reach.

Also, I am back in Limburg, with the crazy-ass people,
which I love. I honestly love the people here.
It's a constant train-ride of unexpected happenings and good times,
today we had a professional-quality-but-not-professional photographer
with us, and we took pictures on cemetaries, with owls and horses,
and in the forest. It was crazy, I made a hat with horns on it.
Just.. madness, I mean check it.
Best time I had in like, a long time.

Keltfest: Aftermath

The weekend of the eleventh en twelfth of may I was in The Netherlands
for an event called Keltfest. It's a festival in Celtic theme, with shoppes and villagers in encampments playing the role of celtic people, old crafts like blacksmiths and people making ring mails, a big stage where bands like Sassenachs and Pyrates! played,
it was a blast, and I met incredible people like
David Gallows, lead singer of Pyrates!,
a dutch musician where we could spend the night,
photographers and strange creatures.

I also shopped with a limited budget, but I was able to score a raccoon skull,
some small feathers for a DIY project and a set of tribal armbands.

Lots of hairs were combed that day, and the following.

May Day

As some of you may know, the first of May is a holiday here in Belgium. I have no idea how it is for the rest of the world, so there, so I’m just saying ‘here in Belgium’.

For that occasion I was invited to meet up with some of my amazing friends who live a two-hour train ride away, and according to the size of Belgium, that’s considered ‘far away’.
I was asked to join them to go see the ‘
maypole’ and the entire festival that surrounds it. I was there a day earlier, yesterday I took the train after work, and I quickly found myself submerged in a whole new world, one that was considered normal for those incredible friends of mine. I found myself running around in a field of grass, being buried in said grass, eating leaves of flowers like some kind of primitive cave man, and more things to ‘get in touch with nature’. I loved it. Elvya Dulcimer, a talented young woman who is taking the music industry by storm, made me a very special friendship leaf, which I cherish a lot.

Today was even better, with a really big jumble sale where I found new shoes,
the ritual of the tree, complete with music, traditional folk dancing and more of that goodness.
The day proceeded with the most incredible inventors showing off their creations. There were people on stilts blowing enormous bubbles; there were elves on horses, and gigantic mechanical contraptions being driven by a man using bike pedals. There was a moving planetarium, and I saw building sized insects and a wooden camel, a metal phoenix,
a woman singing opera on a moving platform…
It was absolutely incredible.

One of the performing groups in the parade: Medusa's world.

As Elvya went home I had to wait an hour for my train, so there was this lovely woman who spent that time with me on a bench in the park. We feeded ducks and talked away, I missed my train eventually because we spent so much time at the park, so she accompanied me for yet another hour of talking until I stepped on my train at long last. It was good.

It was the first time I celebrated the May Day, and I liked it so so much.
I also didn’t want to go home; I left a piece of my soul there, with those strange people.

Elf Fantasy Fair.

Good day ol' chaps and ladies,
I have returned from the Netherlands with a tired mind,
a happy fuzzy feeling in my belly, and a lot of memories.

We were followed by a film crew for the Belgian television the entire weekend,
and -while they were awesome- they made me lose a lot of time,
so I have not felt the 'festival feeling' I should have had.

Nevertheless it was amazing, it felt like a dream,
where I was able to be myself, to live the 'Dorian'
of the Old World, and not that mask I wear in real life :)
I met a lot of new people,
I spent the night in an abandoned radio building,
I spent more than an hour talking to a german boy about my other dimension (in english)
and I got more hugs this weekend than the rest of my life I think.

On saturday I also met the lovely Constance Bashford at last
-we saw each other briefly on previous events, but I was able to hug her right now yay-
and we took pictures together.

Creatures were slain this weekend.

UPDATE: a new picture has arrived of me in the branch of Steampunk Objective
located in The Netherlands, basically the head of the international group.
They are amazing people.

A busy bee.

This week is incredibly busy for me,
as I try to get everything in order for the Elf Fantasy Fair this weekend,
finish a custom wooden artefact for a friend of mine,
and make bee hotels for work.

I am working my ass off to make Artifakt -our group of steampunkers- more known,
and I might even get it on the television this weekend.
It makes me feel a slight hint of stress, not because I am afraid of camera's,
but because I fear I won't be able to say all I want to say.

I also dream some really weird things these past couple of months,
but I suppose that's just because my life has turned upside down,
and I need to process that in my head.

We'll see what today brings eh?

Costume madness and Artifakt.

The twentieth and twenty-first of april are going to be amazing,
I know that. I am meeting up with some people to go to the event called
'Elf Fantasy Fair' in The Netherlands, and I'm gonna spend two days there
to see some knights fighting, goblins teasing people, mermaids being lazy in the water,
it's gonna be great. I might even drink my first mead, knowing the people I'm gonna hang out with.

Also, as part of the Steampunk Objective, I am going to hang out with the team too,
amazingly creative people who are a blast to hang out with.
I might get some new recruits for Artifakt, the Belgian division of the Objective,
or I might get to talk to the other international spokesmen.

So these days are preparation days. And I just did a costume check,
an adventurous take on Dorian in the wastes between domes in his world of origin.
So far, I have come up with this.
A pretty accurate remake of one of the outfits in my world,
if I may say so myself.

I'm gonna go to sleep now because it's almost midnight and I have to be up at six.
With the tiny amount of sleep I get these weeks, it's really necessary for me
to get into my bed and get some shuteye.

Dead. Worth it.

I feel as tired as I have never felt in a long time.

Yesterday, two friends of mine came over from some faraway place
(a trip that takes an hour and a half with a car is considered 'faraway'. Deal with it.)
and entered the world of Abberantia, also known as, my room.
I had not seen those two people a lot before tonight.
One of them did come over once, to deliver something,
and stayed for a while to teach me html and css basics.
The other, a faery creature know as Elvya Dulcimer
(If you don't know her, you should check out her epic musical skills right here.)
I had only met in a flash once, a fast ticking couple of seconds on Phantasium.

The multi-talented people lightened my room with their epic painting skills
of my Warhammer 40k Tyranids, their vast pools of knowledge and stories,
and their friendly smiles. Nobody had set foot in my room in a long time,
mainly because I live in a city nobody visits,
but it felt good to finally be able to show my room to some friends
who are becoming more dear to me by the day,
and to laugh the time away. God I needed a laugh,
things are mentally exhausting nowadays.

Miss Dulcimer even drew me like it was nothing! #multiskill
I love this picture. Seriously.

We had a lot of good times with Wilfred, my Magikarp. He's such a funnyman.

I gained a lot of hugs last night too.
Really, tons. And I am not complaining, I needed hugs. I still need hugs.
I might have an addiction for hugs.

The moment my guests were gone, I fell in my bed, exhausted, but with a smile.
A smile that lasted throughout the entire night.
I might have slept as little as two hours, and I'm so dead tired today,
but it was worth every single minute.
Keep being awesome guys! :3

Phantasium 2013

Oh wow. Oh. Ooh wow.

Those are the words going in my head tonight, as I recall the events of this weekend.
I went to an event called Phantasium in The Netherlands, a country next to mine,
where I met the amazing people of Abney Park. <3

Let me tell you, although the fanbase was a bit small compared to AP's other gigs,
they were going wild on their songs, and the atmosphere was amazing.
I sang along with almost every song and danced like a madman.
I never dance, so it's a big deal.

Robert Brown's voice is as good live as it is on an album,
something not a lot of bands manage to do.
Jody was an active all-over-the-place-woman
that got the crowd moving.

But songs aside, there were two things that I will remember, being,

1) They were done playing for the night, but re-entered the stage afterwards
with the words 'we are jetlagged and probably won't sleep tonight,
so we will play a million more songs.

And
2) After Abney Park played their songs they came too meet the audience.
I told the members of the band my English was way better during normal
circumstances, but when meeting important people my brain dies.
Nevertheless, I, along with my good friend Miss Sheridan,
were able to teach Kristina about the Rijksmuseum,
talk to the Captain himself, and get autographs of the entire band.

The relaxed-ness of the band members really got to me,
and made them the best live band ever, in my eyes.

Oh yeah, saturday was shopping day for me, and I bought an antique
persian rifle, which I gave a blowjob just as Robert passed by me, fml :p
This one.

Late valentine post.

Hi duuuudes.

I hope y'all had a great couple of days (and please do not hesitate to tell me stories.)
I know I did :) I was back in Antwerp with miss Sheridan because we had to make outfits that went well together for an upcoming event (Abney Park live + event itself, check it out here).
It quickly turned into silly gif-making, and we went to the fetish-cafe after that.
Oh god why.

Look. I don't mind you guys doing that fetish bdsm whatever thing,
but it's waaaay out of my comfort zone for me. I heard things. I saw things.
My mind imploded.

...which is why it's weird that I went again last night..

Snowshoot.

Last thursday, the seventeenth to be precise,
I was done working at noon instead of the usual 8:30 to 4,
and so I took of to the city of Antwerp to see Laura again.

It was planned a few days before, so I had this big suitcase full of clothes, ties,
and accesories we could use for the photoshoot we were going to do.
I did not expect, however, that I was going to sit down in the snow,
my hands freezing cold. But it was fun though, and I definately want to do it again.

These are four of the seven pictures of the shoot.
The idea was to see if a Tribal+Steampunk combination would work,
which it totally did, in my opinion.
Also, during the shoot I had some memories of the last time I sat in the snow like this:
outside of Dircalis, back in my own world.

Holy guacamole, I need to go back badly.

A new year? Already?

2013.. wait whut?

I remember 2012 passing me by very fast, but still,
new year's eve turned up on my doorstep like a thief in the night.
It was a very strange year, or, I can say it started turning weird around june,
when I met someone who made me have faith in humanity again.
Not in love, but at least in humanity as a good species.

Then there was august with the freak-circus edition of Les Jardins des Poupées,
a seasonal themed meeting with lots of fun people.

That's me in the front with the bowler hat, by the way :)

I guess the real madness began @ Emporium Vernesque,
a day I will never forget. It was a themed party with odd shops and activities,
like a bellydance initiation, musical performances by BB Black DogSchwarzblut and Ball Noir, a Burlesque performance by the lovely Amesbury Rose,
and it was also the day I got to meet four amazing people,
who have become really good friends.
The most crazy person of all, I meet on an almost regular basis.

Small interpretation of what it was like.

I have been photographed semi-professionally,
I have laid down on the ground of the big city of Antwerp, in a garbage bag,
I have grown accustomed to the feeling of a lot of fellow humans around me,
something I was not used to, believe it or not.

I have gotten back into the paranormal lifestyle after a big break
(it keeps coming back in other forms, as I said here.)

I have gotten more into taboo-breaking talks about sexuality,
which is awkward for me because we don't talk about that out in the open,
back where I come from.

I spend new years eve with two of my buddies at the movies in Antwerp,
where we went to see The Hobbit in not two, but three dimensions!
That was cool.

Me and miss Khaos, Belinda took the picture so sadly, she isn't to be seen.

Also, I went to see the fireworks with milady Khaos,
and even though it was raining like hell, it was very pretty.
I got a little shaken up and emotional because of that,
because of the fact that.. 2012 is over.
It's officially done, we survived the apocalypse,
the torture of not knowing my place in this world is over,
and from here, it's uphill towards sunshine.

Things will be weird in 2013. I know that.
It's gonna be insane, exhausting,
it will make me mentally unlike what I was before,
but I will love it, because I have some good people standing beside me.

Bring it on, world.

New photographs!

So yesterday I did another photoshoot with Sheridan, along with some friends of her.

I had a good time there in Antwerp,
it seems like there's always something new to discover.
Normally I would've gone there at 2'o clock,
but it got postponed 'till 4, which is largely the reason why I got home around 11,
and slept for a few hours (it's seven in the morning now, and I feel it. -,-')

The theme of the shoot was Weegee.
After running his name through the internet (still marvelous how fast you find a man!)
I understood that it was a 1930-1940 photographer
who followed the city's emergency services,
crime scenes, and the urban life.

So I dressed the part and went to Antwerp.
I met some new people, and spend a few hours in the appartement,
trying on different things, playing with rats (domesticated ones, of course),
and generally having fun.

But shooting needed to be done,
so in the street of the appartement, we shot scenes with hookers, drugs,
and me in a bodybag, for example.

Pictures will surface on the internet later, I assume,
so they will be featured here.

I'm so happy with my new friends.

Good times.

Hello interwebs,

I've been getting my mind blown everyday nowadays,
and it has everything to do with some people I met a while ago.

So there's this lady called Sheridan, she's living in a mad world of photography,
and she asked me if I could assist her with that.
Me, being the gent that I am, of course agreed with that,
and so I went to Antwerp by train.
My god these things are fast.

I arrived around noon, and found that the models (Milinda, Xanthy, and Karen)
were allready dressed for the shoot.
Xan put a camera in my hands and basically said "take pictures of everything",
which made me feel a little overwhelmed.
I still managed to snap some pictures though,
while Karen did the make-up of the models (Karen is a miracle worker.)
Working with that team is so much fun, I miss them everytime I leave :)

How much fun? this much fun:

Working outdoors with the team was also great,
I now have a better understanding of how Miss Sheridan works her magic.
It was all fun and good times untill some fifty-year old homeless man with faux-gold jewelery
tried to talk the ladies up into marrying him and going 'to his appartement' and stuff.
You could see that Xan, Milinda, Karen and miss Sheridan were starting to get frustrated,
and in one outburst that's totally unlike me,
I put the old man in his place. Oh my god the verbal filth that came out of my mouth !

But that was the only thing that was bad about the day,
overall it was a really good time.

Afterwards we chatted some more at a chocolate bar I've never even heard of.
Oh lord the chocolate overdose :3

Oh, and I spent the night in Antwerp because I didn't have a train home that late,
so I got home at around 15:00 today.

Was it a good adventure? Definately.

Buddies.

Hey interwebs, it's me again.
Sorry I keep using your time, but I really need to get something off my chest here.
The past year was a year of searching my place here,
a year of sadness, stress and melancholy.
But a few weeks ago, it all changed.

You see, I not only found work on the New Belgica,
but I've also met some pretty amazing people.
There was this event in the Netherlands called Emporium Vernesque,
and I wanted to go, but did not have the means of transportation.
So I talked to this photographer I've known a while
(from seeing one time and chatting online on a few occasions, nothing mayor)
And I spent the night there.
By spending the night I meant talking about games & paranormal stuff & everything else
'till the early morning. And I slept on the couch, so keep your dirty mind in check.
When we woke up, we dressed in our outfits for the event,
and went to the bakery like that.
I tell you, walking around on the street with a tribal bellydance girl felt pretty awesome.
Along with miss Sheridan (where I slept) I also met Xanthy again
(I've seen her pop up here and there)
and I got the honour of meeting Beli and her boyfriend,
and Marijke who drove us to the Emporium.

It was an amazing day, I've met LOTS of great people,
the shops were filled with hand made artefacts of an era that never was,
and I found myself some goodies there.

Anyway, as fun as the Emporium was,
the thing I will always remember was the lovely company I had all day,
and they turned into great buddies that help me find my place in this day and age.

Here's the tl;dr version:
I love you guys.
